We are looking to fill an opening for an Orthodontic Assistant at our Springfield office. The ideal candidate has at least some experience assisting in the dental field, either as a dental or orthodontic assistant. In addition, the ideal candidate would be able to fill in when needed (vacation/illness) at the Jacksonville office.
The orthodontic assistant plays a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support during orthodontic procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of orthodontic practices, good dental terminology and knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. We provide on-the-job training for all new hires, regardless of previous experience, but will generally limit our selections to those who have experience in the dental field.
The assistants are responsible for: supporting orthodontists during procedures; placing and removing brackets, wires, rubber bands, spacers; taking patient records (X-rays, scans, photos, impressions); making retainers; sterilizing instruments; providing education to patients and parents; completing treatment notes in an electronic charting system (Ortho 2 Edge).
Ability to work Monday - Friday, 7am to 4pm.
Good communication and emotional intelligence skills are extremely important for effective teamwork, so we look for evidence of those skills.
Would prefer someone with orthodontic background, but dental assistant background is a plus.
Skills:
Efficient, follows directions, friendly and positive, confident, team player and problem solver.
Knowledge of aseptic techniques and their application in a dental setting.
Familiarity with anatomy relevant to orthodontics and general dentistry.
Experience working in a dental clinic environment or other health care facility.
