This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The VA Southern Oregon Rehabilitation Center and Clinics (SORCC) Service Chief, Dental, serves as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard, corrective, restorative, or preventative measures. This position also oversees the daily operations within the VA SORCC Dental clinic, which includes supervising staff (dentists and dental assistants), assessing and allocating resource needs as necessary, and adhering the elements within the Executive Career Field (ECF) performance standards. Duties include but are not limited to: - Provides the administration of the Dental Service in compliance with applicable Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Medical Center, and Dental Service Handbooks, Directives, Policies, and Procedures. - Maintains Service compliance with: a) VHA Handbooks and Directives b) VISN Policies c) Medical Center Policy (MCP), and d) Service Policies and Procedures pertinent to dental clinic management - Develops performance metrics for all provider classification to drive performance and to direct desired behavior. - Responsible for fiscal oversight of the service. - Monitors compliance with the VHA National Dental Quality Indicators (QI) that are published monthly. - Actively engaged in facility Quality Improvement activities, including compliance with the VA credentialing/privileging process and ensuring that an active Peer Review process is in place for Dental Service providers. - Engage in service recovery, and have knowledge of patient satisfaction data sources. Uses customer service data for service improvement. - Operates a sound personnel performance management system in compliance with the Union Master Agreement and HR policies including VHA labor relations policies. - Helps identify and coordinate, in partnership with Community Care, dental care for eligible Veterans for services not available within the facility.
